If all of you have done your homework and read/ digested the papers we sent to you our task will be simpler - We will try and make it easy. We trust that you know where exactly you fit into the family and you have introduced yourselves to each other ! Have you got a name sticker ? 2. On sht 5 you will see some 400years of Croesor history. Today we are only dealing with a strip of this chart - less than 1 inch.. 3. Sht 4, the ‘EGG’ chart- today we are interested in the upper right corner, only. 4. Our ancestors Mor decais were weavers at Tyddyn Gwyn, Hafotty See Sheet 1 “Brief History of Felenrhyd Fawr family” 5. Some 10 generations later some of their descendants still live here at Croesor e.g. Edgar and Guto Wyn - but they are NOT weavers. 6. Lewis Mor decai’s sons Edward, William and John Lewis carried on weaving here at Ty Newydd Caeglas 7. We have representatives of Edward (Nan Williams) & William Lewis here today from Gwynedd & England Glaslyn, Brynderwen, Felenrhyd 8. Naturally we cannot count the “total number who are NOT here” but we are representing them. 9. Today, you have to concentrate and imagine that YOU are here in this area of Croesor, SOME 200 YEARS AGO within the 30 year period 1790 to 1820. There were no roads, no schools, no books, no trains, no cars and no mobile phones either. 10. 1790 The sea came up to Llanfrothen and Aberglaslyn and William Lewis ( he and his wife had about 13 children ) started a Sunday School at Hafoty 11. 1809 William Lewis’s son David Williams married Margaret Prichard Rhyd Ddu and started a family 12. 1810 Lowri Davies ( Dyffryn Clwyd) was born at Garreg Fawr 13. 1811 William Davies (Bryn Derwen, Minffordd ) was born at Garreg Fawr 14. 1813 Richard Davies ( Holyhead) was born at Hafoty 15. 1816 Griffith Davies (1) ( Felenrhyd) was born here at Ty Newydd Caeglas 16. 1817 Margaret Davies ( ? ) “ “ 17. 1821 David Williams – the father – died here at Ty Newydd Caeglas - aged 36 18. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 19. I must introduce here J R Jones Ramoth (1765 – 1822). He was a renowned Baptist minister/’doctor’. He lodged at Hafotty until ca. 1804 and then at Garreg fawr until death in 1822. For over 30 years he must have been a close friend of the family. He was not a Methodist like William Lewis was. 20. From 1821 to 1840 it is not clear where the family were – they would be growing up and leaving the nest. 21. 1840 Anne Davies was born to William Davies and his wife at yr Odyn, Llanfrothen – not far form here 22. 1841 Griffith Davies married Sarah Jones Bryncyfergid at Llan Ffestiniog and lived at Tanygrisiau 23.
